Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day to you all!

It's been quite awhile, and for that I must apologize. I've had a rocky and hectic past school year and been through a lot, but one thing hasn't changed: I am still committed to helping preserve life and to be Environmentally Active.

For those of you who are still active LiveJournal Users and interested in positive environmental action, it would be great for you to leave a comment in this post, so we can see who is still around. As a reminder, while this community is for anyone around the world, a lot of my personal efforts will currently be focussed around York University and the Greater Toronto Area, as that is where I live... so please remember that you are welcome to post anything relating to environmentalism.

Ideally, it would be great if we had a number of people who are part of this community who would be willing to do a weekly or monthly article/post on specific topics... for example, on a particular endangered species, a particular threatened area, or a weekly tip on how to be environmentally friendly around the home. If you're interested in doing something like that, please comment!

With global warming becoming more evident every year, the continuing pollution and deforestation of the Earth and the rapid rates of extinction all over the world, it can be easy to despair. It is always important to remember that any contribution, no matter how small, still makes a difference, and that despite all the tragic consequences of our current civilization, the Earth is still an incredibly beautiful place.

Good luck in all your endeavours, and may you live in harmony with the Earth.

*raises hand* I'd like to help out, though I'm not sure how well I'll be able to maintain a stready rate of articles once classes start up again.
That's great! What would you like to do articles on? I'm sure most of us will have difficulty keeping up regular posting as the summer goes on, so we'll see how it goes in September :)
Hm, the thing I would probably commit best to would be something like a vegetarian or vegan recipe article every two weeks or so. *laugh* Perhaps preceded by an explanation of exactly why vegetarian or vegan food choices are good for the environment?
Oh, and I would love love love to do an article on reusable menstrual products. It's really sad how few women know about their choices, and how much miss-information there is about them.
A vegetarian/vegan recipe every two week sounds good (with the resusable menstrual products one too). I think an explanation of how food choices can impact the environment would be very helpful as well.

If the recipe articles/reusable mentrual products are long, it might be a good idea to have them behind a LiveJournal cut... that's something I need to get better at using I think!

Thanks for being willing to share your information with us!
Of course I'd cut. I'm sure nobody wants to log onto livejournal first thing in the morning and see photos of various menstrual products. *snicker*

I'm in the middle of a job search, and right now that has priority, but I'll post something as soon as I can. (Probably this week.)
